There's also a less expensive SmartThings Hub Dongle that supports Z-Wave and Zigbee and Thread, with Thread support in the near future. Once you've connected your smart fridge to your smartphone and hub, it is extremely simple to use. SmartThings allows you to control your refrigerator from any location. Notifications are sent to your smartphone when the fridge is closed or opened. You can set up schedules, set the temperature and even set reminders. SmartThings was an early participant in the Home Connectivity Alliance. This alliance is working on making major home appliances made by different manufacturers interoperable.
